A Lot Has Changed

www.supportthebear,net

At the end of September, I posted that I was taking a short break from writing in order to focus on other things.

Other things included my upcoming graduation next month and my absolutely pointless courseload, studying Japanese, posting more content on my other platforms, improving my quality of life, acquiring a post-graduation job, and the list goes on. So much has changed and the past few months have been absolute hell. Looking back, I predicted this in my diary over the summer. I just knew that there was no way I’d get to glide my way through the finish line. So let me be transparent and catch you up. Continue reading “A Lot Has Changed”

When You’ve Tried “Everything”

everything1

There are a few things that I’ve been trying to do for years now. My longest-standing unaccomplished goal is to move to Japan. My shortest, but still 3-year-strong, has been to lose a specific amount of weight. In between sits goals like growing my hair to the middle of my back, passing the JLPT N2, getting married, and starting a successful business. It’s so easy for me to say that I’ve tried “everything”, but haven’t had any success. Honestly, it seriously feels like I have. But the fact is- I haven’t tried “everything” yet.

Last year, I started listening to Continue reading “When You’ve Tried “Everything””

My “Post-Bucket List” Bucket list

Post BL BL.png

Very soon, I will have accomplished not one, but two of my life goals. I’ll have obtained a bachelors degree and moved to Japan in just a little more than 5 months. I’m fairly young, so this will be the first time in my life that I’ve actually reached a point like this in my life. It’s strange. I mean, what do you do once you’ve crossed off everything on your bucket list? I gave it some thought and decided that the best thing is to set new goals. De-Clutter Update #4

I’ve officially hit a standstill. I’m not saying it in a bad way, but it’s happened. Somehow I’ve been able to make junk of what little I do have and getting through my paper waste seems impossible. I’ve made great progress on my wardrobe though. I got rid of a large amount of clothing that I don’t/won’t wear and I’m down to only what I do wear- which will serve as the foundation to my soon to be capsule wardrobe. I’m not really sure of what I “need” or need to to right about now, but I just want to.. get rid of.. no, organize my things. Hopefully this will be the last of my de-clutter updates for the year. In 2018, my goal will be to downsize (over time) to having the absolute minimum. Within 1-2 months of my big move, I should have downsized to about 2-3 suitcases before making my final purge. We’ll see how this goes.

De-Clutter Update #3

I. Have. Paper. Everywhere.

I am having the most difficult time managing paper and paper waste. I spent over an hour shredding a week ago and now I’m up to my neck again! Well… not up to my neck, but how do I still have junk left laying around?? I just don’t get it and since the semester has started back up, the paper will only increase! I want to create a DIY filing system of some sort, but there’s so many options and so little time to make a decision…

Also, I’m trying to figure out when to buy something new and when to “ride something until the wheels fall off”. Specifically my laptop. In 2016 I purchased a laptop to replace this one that I’ve been using since 2013. Unfortunately for me, I hated the new laptop and after hardly one year of use, I just couldn’t use it anymore. $600 in the drain. Now, my 4 year old laptop is barely holding on for its life (keyboard issues, wifi adapter doesn’t work, CD port falling off) and I just feel this urge to get a new laptop. I don’t know if I should just try to… refurbish and clean up this laptop to make it “feel” new again, or… The other issue is that the laptop is a bit bulky and heavy and I have to bring it with me to school everyday. I don’t want to have a third laptop and I don’t want to spend the money on a new one. So… I just don’t know, but I sure hope that my 4th update is a lot more positive.

Is it better to be.. “broke”?

I captured this photo while passing through Shizuoka on a road trip to Kyoto

A year ago, I was going to wait 8 more years to move to Japan. Isn’t that just ridiculous? Well see, there’s a reason. I wanted to have $50,000 before I go and I wanted to obtain this money by joining the military and saving.

While this plan might sound financially solid, it was silly. Continue reading “Is it better to be.. “broke”?”
